 Cause of his death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
After the death of Bryan's first wife, Mary Jane Ham, he married Ethel M. Campbell in Maine, March 22, 1979. Bryan and Ethel divorced but married again August 17, 1985. Though "newly weds" for a second time, their relationship remained troubled and in 1999 they began plans for a second divorce. This divorce, however, never occurred and was interrupted by a tragedy that resulted in the loss of both their lives.

BRYAN J. SPRINGER, JR.
MERCER - Bryan J. Springer, Jr., 59, of Skowhegan, died July 13, 1999. He had previously resided in Mercer for 20 years. He was born on June 4, 1940, in Weston, the oldest son of Bryan, Jr. and Cora (Muncey) Springer.
He graduated from Danforth High School and attended the University of Maine or Orono. Bryan taught high school in the Allagash and Wytopitlock for a number of years before becoming employed by the State of Maine for more than 23 years. Bryan loved fly fishing and enjoyed tying his own flies. He also enjoyed traveling and did so extensively throughout North America.
He is survived by two children, four sisters, a brother and grandchildren, whom he loved very much.
There will be a memorial held in Skowhegan at Coburn Park, 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers by calling 623-4739. Monetary contributions will be donated in Bryan's name to a Crisis Intervention Center.
