Esther (Tibbetts) Bartlett
BANGOR and HERMON - Esther T. Bartlett, 82, wife of the late Leroy "Peanut" Bartlett, died June 1, 2003 at her home. She was born in Hermon, July 13, 1920, the daughter of Harold and Hazel (Goodspeed) Tibbetts.
She was a graduate of Hermon High School and class salutatorian. For six years she worked for the Bangor Water District then for the next 16 years, at the Greater Bangor Chamber of Commerce, as assistant director and clerk of corporations. Finally, before retirement in 1982, she was employed with the Gordon Clapp Travel Agency for eight years. Esther was a 50 year member and past Noble Grand of Eastern Star Rebekkah Lodge No. 36.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyne Vogelsonger of Torrington, Conn.; Sally B. Thompson of Hermon; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Earl Tibbetts of Dexter, Ralph Tibbetts of Fall Brook, Calif., Roscoe Tibbetts of Bourne, Mass. and Florida, Paul Tibbetts of Greenville; two sisters, Arline Lord of Raymond and Florida, Flora Lord of Hermon; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Diane Herring, Kay Goodnoh and Jean Turner. She was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace and Everett Tibbetts; and by two sisters, Pearl Motley and Gladys McPartland.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of the Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service. Those wishing to remember Esther in a special way may contribute in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
