Rollins - Sleeper

Daughter of Former Lewiston Doctor Is Bride of Colby Graduate

WAYNE, July 15 (Special) -
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stinchfield of Wayne, was the scene of a very pretty home wedding Friday evening, when Mr. Stinchfield's niece, Miss Catherine Sleeper, became the bride of Donald H. Rollins of Winthrop.

At 8:30 o'clock, to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, played by Miss Florence Hill of Hyde Park, Mass., the bridal party entered the large living room. Miss Florence Stinchfield, maid of honor, was followed by the bride, on the arm of her uncle, Mr. Stinchfield, who gave her in marriage, meeting the bridegroom and best man, G. Edwin Royal of Augusta, under a beautiful arch of evergreen, twined with white rambler roses.

The ceremony was performed by Rev. I.H. Lidstone of Winthrop, pastor of the M.E. church. The double ring service was used.

The bride wore a gown of ivory lace, with picture hat to match, and carried an arm bouquet of American Beauty roses. True to the old tradition - "Something old and something new"- she carried a hand-made lace handkerchief, made and carried by her great-grandmother, on a similar occasion. Her going away gown was a blue and white ensemble of crinkle crepe with white accessories. The maid of honor wore a nile-green net gown with picture hat, and carried an arm bouquet of Premiere roses.

The rooms were beautifully decorated with quantities of cut flowers. The decorations were in charge of Miss Helen Maxim. Mrs. Charles Collins of Everett, Mass., was in charge of the guest book. There were many gifts, including silver, glass, linen, money, furniture and electrical appliances.

In the receiving line, following the ceremony, were Mr. and Mrs. Stinchfield, Mrs. Henrietta Stinchfield, grandmother of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. William A. Rollins, parents of the bridegroom and family friends.

Serving refreshments were Miss Helen Royal of Augusta, Miss Alice Heggie, Hyde Park, Mass., Miss Helen Maxim and Mrs. Margaret Soule of Wayne, and Mrs. Wilbur Maxim of New York.

Mrs. Rollins in the daughter of the late Dr. Herbert Sleeper, a well known Lewiston physician, and Minnie Stinchfield Sleeper. She was educated in the public schools of Lewiston, was graduated from the Sargent School of Physical Training in Cambridge and later took the post-graduate course at Penn Hall, Chambersburg, Pa. For the past five years, she has been physical instructor in the schools of Belmont, Mass. She is a member of the Boston Sargent Club, and the Maine Brance of Mayflower Descendants.

Mr. Rollins is a graduate of Winthrop school, of Colby College and of the engineering corps of the Westinghouse Electricity and Manufacturing Co. He is a member of the Lambdi Chi Alpha fraternity and of the Odd Fellows. He is at present assistant manager in the Portsmouth, N.H. office of the Personal Finance Co.
