Darrell M. Harris

GREENFIELD -- Darrell M. Harris, 75, died at his home in Greenfield April 24 following a long illness. He was the husband of Julia Madden Harris.

He was born at Greenbush, September 18, 1895, son of Melvin J. and Ada (Ashe) Harris. He had been a farmer and woodsman in the Greenfield area for many years, and had served as State Highway Patrolman for 33 years, retiring in 1957.

Mr. Harris served as a deacon and an honorary deacon of the Greenfield and Cardville Baptist Churches.

Besides his wife, Julia, of Greenfield, he is survived by five daughters -- Mrs. Richard (Faith) Watson, Greenfield; Mrs. Alden (Irma) Bradbury, Old Town; Mrs. Ivan (Hope) Buchanan, Old Town; Mrs. Warren (Glenice) Nye, Monroe, N.H.; and Mrs. Melville (Wilda) Gould, Millinocket; one son, Fernald Harris, Greenfield; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Mabel) Sanborn, Cardville and Mrs. Alonzo (Elizabeth) Cunningham, Cardville; one aunt, one uncle, 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Craig Meader Funeral Chapel, 24 High Street, Old Town, with the Rev. Ray Lydick, pastor of the Greenfield Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at the Greenfield Cemetery.
