Life Long Resident of Leeds Dies in 85th Year

Leeds, March 13 --
The death of Lewis Leavitt Lindsay, prominent resident of Leeds occurred Saturday morning at 8:30. He had been in failing health for the past few years but had been about as usual until Monday when his condition became worse.

Mr. Lindsay was born Dec. 8, 1847, the last of ten children of Howard and Caroline Lindsay, and he had always lived on the home place at Bishop Hill. On Jan 8, 1873, he married Flora Curtis who survives, and five children, Arthur L. of Boston, Bertha M. and Harry C., both of whom live at home; Mrs. Alice L. Russell of Leeds and Mrs. Annie L. Stockford of Winthrop. There are also six grandchildren.

In 1923, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay had observed the 50th anniversary of their wedding. As a younger man, Mr. Lindsay had been a popular tenor. He was a member of Leeds Grange.
